Ranu Mandal became a social media star overnight by singing Lata Mangeshkar’s song. Since then, Ranu’s luck has taken a 360 degree turn not only this she also recorded a song with Himesh Reshammiya “ Teri Meri Kahani”. But now the singer “Lata Mangeshkar “has given Ranu a big advice.
Mondal, has now recorded three tracks for singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya, became an overnight social media sensation after a video of her singing Lata Mangeshkar’s soulful number “Ek pyaar ka nagma hai” at Ranaghat railway platform went viral on the internet. Lata Mangeshkar has reacted to Ranu tasting success.
Talking about Ranu Mandal in an interview, Lata Mangeshkar said – If my name and work does good for anyone, I consider myself lucky. But according to me, copying cannot get you success for a long time.
Next, Lata says- ‘Aspiring singers get attention for some time by singing songs of Kishore Da, Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle and Mukesh but it does not last long.’ Lata ji also said that, “Many children sing my songs very beautifully but only few are remembered after their first song. I only know Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.
In the interview, Lata kept her point and said- Sing the Evergreen songs of all the singers, but definitely search for yourself. The singer should find his unique quality. Citing the example of her sister Asha Bhosle, Lata ji said – If Asha have not insisted on singing in her style, then she must have remained under my shadow. She is the greatest example of how far a person’s talent can take him. That’s why I advise to be original.
This statement of Lata’s made her fans disappointed, look at their comments:
“Such a superstar and so ungracious,” wrote a user on Twitter.
“A poor lady sang on a railway platform for a living. #RanuMondal’s voice was miraculously noticed by SM and she became a star. Inspiring Lata ji could have been more gracious, complimented and helped her. This lecture on “imitation” was avoidable,” another user said.
A user “disagreed” with Mangeshkar and called her “a bit harsh”, while another said that this could have been taken in “true spirits by a senior artist like Lataji”.
