Everyone very well knows about M.S.Dhoni, his captainship and his sportsmanship is famous all around. He tries to deal with every problem with a smile on his face and hits boundaries with a smile but there are some facts about him that proves why everyone loves him deeply.

  1. Love for Army

For Dhoni has always maintained that the Army is his first love and was conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 1 November 2011. “I love my country, I tell my wife she is only the third most important after my country and my parents, in that order,” Dhoni once said.

2. Finishes off in style

We all have seen the beauty with which he hit boundaries. One cannot get bored by the six hit by him in 2o11 WC final, and the way in which he swirled his bat like a south Indian hero was splendid.

  • 3. His pet dogs

Zarah and Sam – play a major role in his personal life. Zarah is a Labrador and Sam an Alsatian.

4. John Abrahm’s fan

Dhoni was a huge fan of John Abraham copied and had long hair just like him. He even cut his hair short when the Bollywood actor did so. John and Bipasha were also the part of his wedding.

5. Unorthodox behaviour and style

His style seriously has a class, and that class is permanent and unbeatable. The one shown above is my favourite. Although Sangara once tried to imitate this one, but not everyone is MSD.

6. Last man standing

Whether it’s 23 runs off six balls (RPS vs KXIP 2016), or the T20 match match against Bangladesh(in which he run out the batsman and India won by a run), he’s the man who changes the game.

His top 5 finishes include:

Karachi:Msd struck 77* in ’06 vs PAK

Lahore:Msd’s 72* in a 288 run chase

IND vs AUS CB Series: MSD turned it around for India

Windies: Msd’s 45 helps Ind win Final

WC final 2011: Msd’s 91 in WC win

7. Dhoni loves worshipping.

His favourite temple is in Ranchi – the Deori Mandir on National Highway 33

8. Dhoni is the most successful Indian Test captain with 27 Test wins, eclipsing Sourav Ganguly’s record of 21. He is also the most successful ODI and T20I captain for India with 110 and 41 wins respectively.

9. Goal Keeper

Dhoni was an excellent goalkeeper and his skills in football caught the attention of his childhood coach Keshav Bannerjee, who urged him to try his hand at cricket and wicketkeeping.

10. His love for Bikes

Dhoni is known for his passion for motorcycles. His love for two-wheelers started from a very young age and he now has an enviable list of bikes ranging from the very old to the very exclusive.

11. His Helicopter shot

The ‘Helicopter Shot’, which Dhoni is famous for, was taught to him during a tennis-ball tournament in Ranchi by his friend Santosh Lal.

12.  Always a Winner

Dhoni is the only captain in world cricket to win all three ICC trophies – 2007 World T20, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

13. Just like all of us

Dhoni made sure to keep his wedding away from the media glare and it was attended only by his close friends and family members. Actor John Abraham and Bipasha Basu were also a part of the celebrations.

14. Record Holder

Dhoni also holds the record for playing the most number of international matches as captain (331).

15. Fan Following

Dhoni has a huge fan following in India and abroad. Among the many crazy fans he has met over the years, there was one girl in Ranchi who chased his Hummer in her scooty and clicked a selfie with him at the Airport.
